Laundry rooms are located in the Cellar level of all buildings.
You will need to load money onto your Campus Cash (which is linked to your NYU ID card) first in order to use the machines.
There are no fees associated with opening or maintaining a Campus Cash account, though the minimum deposit is $10 to open an account. For additional information including a list of locations that accept Campus Cash in addition to the laundry/vending machines visit the NYU Card Center Website or call (212) 443-2273.

Building Policies:

What is the guest policy?

Each resident can have a maximum of four guests at one time. Guests are required to sign in at the public safety desk and submit a valid photo ID (not including passports because we cannot be responsible for them).

Overnight guest policy: Must be approved 48 hours in advance and can be picked up from the Resource Center. A guest can stay a maximum of three consecutive nights. You must have your roommates’ approval.
You can find more details on the poster in the Carlyle lobby and the NYU Housing website.

Are residents allowed to have pets?

While we do have little pups living in Carlyle, they belong to the Carlyle Building Leadership Team and Faculty Fellows-In-Residence. Residents are not allowed to have pets per housing contract.

General Building Info:

What’s the difference between the A room and the B room?

The difference is that the A room is not separated from the common space. The B room (think “B for bedroom”) has its own door, but is generally a little smaller.

Should I bring my own lamp?

Yes! You should probably bring a floor lamp because the main overhead lighting is only provided in the kitchen, living room, and bathroom. You can also make a trip to:

Kmart (770 Broadway- intersection of 8th Street and Broadway).

The lounge spaces are public areas in Carlyle 24/7. This unfortunately means that they cannot be reserved.

Is there a practice room at Carlyle?

Unfortunately, the practice room is closed for the summer. However, if you are a NYU student taking a Music/Performance course you do have access to the practice rooms in Kimmel. Reserve a space at KimmelOneStop
