Check-In Process: Summer

We are open for check-ins Monday through Sunday 9am – 9pm all summer, including holidays. For check-ins after 9pm, there are on-call staff available for check-ins at 10pm, 12am, 2am, 4am, and 6am.

NYU Summer Housing reservations begin at 9AM on Sundays and you may check-in at anytime after your reservation begins. However, it is helpful for us to know if you are planning on checking in later in the week.

If you are planning on arriving after your scheduled check-in date, please fill out this short survey.

What to Expect

To check in, go directly to the Carlyle Court Resource Center located in the C3 lobby when you enter. You will be asked to show photo identification and then issued your room keys and check-in information packet.

If you do not already have an NYU ID, a temporary ID will be issued that will allow you to access your residence hall for 48 hours. All summer residents must obtain their official NYU ID within 48 hours of checking in.

Moving carts are available for easy transport of your belongings to your room. You must leave a photo ID with the Resource Center while using the cart and there is a strict 30-minute limit.

Getting Your NYU ID

– Residents who submitted their photograph prior to check-in can pick up their NYU ID at:

NYU Card Center
7 Washington Place

– Residents who did not submit their photo prior to check-in or within 48 hours of check-in day by email must go to the NYU Card Center (located at 383 Lafayette Street) during business hours.

Once you have obtained your NYU ID, please go to your the Carlyle Court Resource Center to obtain a hall validation sticker.

Parking

Parking is not provided and commercial garages are expensive. There is limited street parking on Union Square West, 15th Street, and 16th Street that can be used for moving in or out of the building. This parking is first-come, first-serve and subject to New York City traffic laws. The closest garage to Carlyle Court is Central Parking.

Summer Orientation

There will be weekly information sessions on Monday nights at 8pm in the C2 Entertainment Lounge to review NYU policies, procedures related to residential living, and information specific to Carlyle Court.

During this 30-minute presentation, we will provide an overview about living in NYU Housing – including services available, residence hall staffing, and important policies and procedures. This is a great way to better acquaint yourself with summer living at NYU.

Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Check-In Process: Fall

Residents can check in anytime the Resource Center is open, every day from 10am-10pm. Our on-call staff are also available to check you in at 10pm, 12am, 2am, 4am, 6am, and 8am if you arrive afterhours.

You need your NYU ID to check in – no one else is allowed to check in on your behalf. This includes parents, siblings and friends.

Moving bins are available for 30 minutes. You will need to provide photo ID at the Resource Center.

Parking

Parking is not provided and commercial garages are expensive. There is limited street parking on Union Square West, 15th Street, and 16th Street that can be used for moving in or out of the building. Check-Out Process: Year-Round

All residents are required to check-out by 12 noon on their scheduled check-out date.

Please be sure to:

  • remove all personal belongings and garbage from your room
  • visit the Resource Center to have your room inspected
  • return all keys to the Resource Center
  • sign and date your check-out card
  • complete the Mail Forwarding Form

Any resident who does not check-out by 12 noon on their scheduled check-out day will be charged for an additional week of housing. Any missing keys will result in a key or lock-change charge.
